Case Study 1

A large manufacturing site based in Nottingham contacted us to take over the grounds maintenance contract improving on service quality and value for money. The grounds consist of ten acres, including grassed areas, roadside herbaceous borders, car park display borders, hedged boundary fence lines and a formal border area containing both herbaceous and perennial plants. Town & Country Grounds were then contracted to carry out grounds improvements, grounds maintenance and design and planting to the entire ten acre site. This contract is for a period of 12 months initially with a view to extension on successful completion.

Our grounds improvement targets have been to clear the site of decaying and overgrown growth to all borders, which had become a problem for the client due to lack of maintenance. We reviewed the areas requiring immediate attention, namely the frontage of the building and entrance areas, and made an initial start at clearing all areas of unsightly weeds, decaying plant material and overgrown shrubbery, this then allows us to explore the potential of the site with regard to replanting and redesigning the layout of the border to its full potential.

Throughout the year we will be carrying out regular site visits to maintain all lawned areas. This will involve scarifying, re-seeding, turfing, lawn cutting and boxing off of cuttings and ensuring leaf debris from surrounding trees is kept free from all lawns. We then need to address the car park areas. These had initially been dealt with by the previous contractor who had began replanting of a small area, we now intend to continue the re-design and planting of all car park areas in line with improving the overall look.

The site was built on a former coal mine. This has added a number of key issues which we have had to deal with, poor soil conditions for planting and maintenance, and an overgrown mound area which we are currently looking at ways to improve as this is unsightly at the moment.

Our work with this company is a continual improvement of their site, which the company has stressed they want to improve now they have taken over ownership of the building and land, and we are working alongside facility

Case Study 2

An international transport company based in Nottingham contacted us to takeover managing their 2 sites. The grounds contained grassed areas, roadside herbaceous borders, car park display borders, hedged boundary fence lines and a formal border area containing both herbaceous and perennial plants.

Town & Country Grounds were then contracted to carry our grounds improvements, grounds maintenance and tree services to this site. This contract is for a period of 12 months initially with a view to extension on successful completion. Our grounds improvement targets have been to clear the site of decaying and overgrown growth to all borders. All areas are extremely overgrown as the company have never employed a grounds maintenance contractor. We reviewed the areas requiring immediate attention, namely the frontage of the building and entrance areas, we are now carrying out an extensive clearance of all entrance and roadside borders, with pruning and cutting back of large shrubbery and fence line hedging. The site also requires extensive weeding and implementation of future weed control. Throughout the year we will be carrying out regular site visits to maintain all lawned areas. This will involve scarifying, re-seeding, turfing, lawn cutting and boxing off of cuttings and ensuring leaf debris from surrounding trees is kept free from all lawns. We then need to address the main reception area, this contains formal borders and hedging and is at present overgrown and in neglect. We are therefore currently improving this area by clearance, weeding, pruning back of all growth and then replanting of these areas, as they are bare and currently unsightly.

Our work with this company is a continual improvement of their site, they are keen that the site is well maintained and both employees and visitors alike can benefit from well maintained entrance areas and staff areas.managers to look.
